Project Manager #6401
This person will provide overall project management of critical information technology projects in the IT Sales & Marketing group. Core responsibilities include project initiation, planning, control, execution, and communication activities pertaining to technology and business solutions. The Project Manager ensures that goals are accomplished within time, on budget and in line with business objectives, quality and integrity parameters. Additional responsibilities include acting as business analyst on projects when needed and providing support for Microsoft Project Server.

- Working with business sponsor and stakeholders to write and review project proposals to determine project goals, scope, time, budget, procedures for accomplishing project, and staffing requirements.
- Developing and maintaining project plans specifying goals, strategy, and staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, and contingency plans.
- Ensuring solution design and delivery fits with agreed upon guidelines including functional, technical, performance, security, scalability, process, and total cost of ownership.
- Managing the day-to-day details of the project including the plan, schedule, resources, task assignments, scope, budget, issues and risks. Track progress and monitor all development activities to ascertain and control progress.
- Leading the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs.
- Reporting schedule, budget, and delivery details to business and IT management. Continuously advise management of interim plans, potential issues, mitigating strategies, and implications of requested scope or resource changes.
- Facilitating project meetings. Brief the project team on status reporting, problem resolution, feedback, and input from the team on project planning and execution.
- Adhering to project methodology including proper documentation including the original plan, any working papers, status reports, meeting minutes, issue logs and any other documentation related to the management and administration of the project.
- Conducting audits of all IT projects to ensure compliance with project methodology and standards.
- Acting as business analyst on projects when needed. Work includes interviewing business subject matter experts, writing high level and detailed business requirements.
- Coordinating production support & maintenance activities, including launch planning.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of overall business / IT experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of direct technical project management experience, preferably at a very fast-paced internet / .com type of environment.
- 1-2 years business analysis experience desired.
- Experience with ERP (e.g. PeopleSoft or SAP) systems and implementations.
- Experience in using and supporting Microsoft Project Server a plus.
- Ability to use Microsoft Project to track and manage tasks, resources and project costs.
- Experience in a university Information Technology setting or online training Information Technology organization strongly preferred.
- High level of business and organizational aptitude.
- Strong presence and interpersonal skills; able to manage indirectly.
- Excellent ability to organize information and manage projects to time and budget goals.
- Experience in formal project delivery methodologies; PMI certification a plus.
- Bachelors degree, preferable in computer science or related field.
